We ate breakfast at the hotel - a nice spread (note: cashew juice is not my fave) - and took a taxi to the ferry terminal. We got on the ferry and watched as Salvador pulled away.
Once we landed, our cab driver met us at the next stop and drove us for about 90 minutes to a town called Valenca. From there a speedboat picked us up and drove for another hour or so to the island of Boipeba!
A nice staff person took our bags to our room and we got the lay of the land from Mattias who encouraged us to make a dinner reservation as our hotel's restaurant was the best on the island. We immediately donned our bathing suits and grabbed lunch at one of the beachside restaurants. We ordered pulpo cooked in garlic and olive oil as well as a local dish - moqueca - served with shrimp and plantains. SO GOOD. Then we headed out for a swim in the warm water.
After our swim we lounged and got a drink, looking out on the water.
Swaps got a beachside massage and I read my book while the sun went down.
Eventually we took showers and played a games Swapna brought - Blokus and Bananagrams before dinner. We ordered really good drinks from the restaurant bar - a fresh watermelon margarita and a mix of juice awesomeness called a Saude - the word for "cheers" - which we would use many a time on this trip!!

We landed at a spot near our Pousada (Pousada Santa Clara) which had inviting multi-color umbrellas and happy looking tourists swimming in the water.

The very friendly co-owner Charles came up and helped me cheat on Banagrams so we would hurry up and get to dinner. We enjoyed our dinner which included a lobster moqueca - but we were still blown away by our lunch so the Chef had a high bar to reach! After consulting with Charles I convinced Swapna to go into the small town square - which was a 15 minute walk from the pousada. We had sleepy drinks until it started to rain a bit and then we headed back and went to sleep under mosquito nets.
